Capture in camera or create in Photoshop?
Many photographers use Photoshop to edit and change the images recorded by their camera, which is fine, each to their own. My view is you should try and do what you can in camera and then finish the image in Lightroom, Photoshop or similar. An example is below. This image was captured late evening and exposed for the sky which meant the foreground was almost black and the church and trees in silhouette. By reducing the shadows the field of cows were revealed, by reducing the highlights the colour of the sunset was fully revealed, a tweak to the contract and exposure and adding a vignette finished it off.
